I would say the sessions have helped me in a couple ways, one as a good fun distraction from self harm. (I look forward to it every week and keep it in my mind to stay safe to come) and the other way is in a therapeutic way with all the animals and the mentors.
My family and I met Dottie & Blossom at the children’s trust illuminations, They are such beautiful and well behaved Shetlands, I just wanted to say thank you so much for letting Tiana and Albie in with the Shetlands, She hasn’t stopped going on about Blossom and Dottie. She’s even asked for blossom for Christmas! You ladies were absolutely amazing, we would love to come and see you guys soon! Merry Christmas from our family to yours
I just wanted to say that my daughter has absolutely LOVED coming over the last couple of days. I just wanted to check that I am on your mailing list for any further courses/events as my daughter will definitely come back. She can’t wait for next week.
I can’t thank the staff and animals at Kingswood Shetlands enough for helping my daughter through a really tough time in her life. She has been going there weekly to spend time with the animals and this has had a hugely positive effect on her well-being. I had read the research on how horses can help people recover from trauma but was still blown away by how true this was in our case. My daughter doesn’t speak in a lot of situations but when she is with Rhianna and the animals, she speaks freely and this is wonderful!
It was a wet and windy day so I was a little worried that after 4 hours I would have slightly grumpy children. I couldn’t have been more wrong, they come away asking when they could go back and can they have a birthday party there. It’s a 50min drive home and the majority of it was spent talking about the animals and what they had learnt/enjoyed most. Honestly I was slightly jealous of the fun they have had in such a lovely environment. Thank you so much you do an amazing job.
